RASH- Northeast Holds Successful Networking Weekend
The weekend of Mar 24- 26, 2006 RASH groups (Red & Anarchist Skinheads) in the Northeastern US held their first successful networking meeting in several years in the wonderful city of Philadelphia. Skinheads and supporters from New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania attended, with observers from Arizona and Chicago. RASH last held a national conference in Columbus, Ohio in October 1998. Following that meeting the U.S. national organization ceased due to disagreements between the Northeast and Midwest factions.
The networking meeting was brief, but served to introduce the new generation to the history and traditions of RASH. Individuals introduced themselves and talked about their local work. The four current RASH regions in the US & Canada were discussed (Northeast, Midwest, West, South). A plan for future activities amongst RASH groups in the Northeast was also laid out.
RASH groups in the Northeast will continue with the old tradition of twice-yearly assemblies in April and October.
Later that night an absolute floorshakin’ moonstomper of a DJ night was held at a local area restaurant. Selectors included Marvelous Hagler from NYC’s CRAZY BALDHEAD SOUND SYSTEM and Mr. Bad Luck from Chicago’s NORTHERN GUERRILLAS. The deejays spun skinhead reggae, Northern soul and other rebel music well into the morning hours.
The next RASH- Northeast conference will be held in October in NYC.
